Self, its manifestation and potential transformation are central questions of my practice.
First of all, I am interested in the borderline states of human mind which I consider as the ultimate form of searching for Self. Can a human being go beyond the limit points? Will this lead to transformation or destruction of identity? I also explore Self-formation process through the lens of the Other. I challenge the power of self-mythologizing as well as looking for alternative methods of Self-documentation.
Why am I doing this? A personal trauma of fighting for the life of my child and the collapse of the familiar world have left me with the crushed Self and an obsessive desire to find an alternative mode and form of existence.
Liquidness, instability, immanent movement from one identity to another, from one state to another constitute the core of my practice. Transparency, fluidity and multi-layeredness are important to me.
Relying strongly on my femininity and maternity experience, I resort to speculation and construct the worlds of illusion and alter ego. I prioritise corporeality and representation of female body and sexuality. I deliberately work with the realm of the metaphysical and deep suggestive impact.
In my searches I reflect on the practice of the Nabis and the London School. I work across painting, video, performance, photography and graphics.
